(The Most Unfortunate Travails Of) Bernie's Mountain Dog

from Bernie's Mountain Dog by Kim Karkrashian

lyrics

Bernie’s mountain dog
Stood atop a hill of progressive husks

Clueless, yet still wondering why it's here, and "why it is so tall?"

Was it the price of steak that week, or was it the death throes of late capitalism?

He watched the fires burn through the night, so bright
It’s hard to breathe through fading light, much fright

Writhing alone in his final hours
As no one would take out a second mortgage.. bankruptcy
A wanton neglect with ego at hand
Sent the pawns into night to get back in line, silently

Re-conditioned, no longer a threat
Consuming just like their feeds had told them to
Re-conditioned, to think even less
It’s hard to tell who is even alive these days

The fires still burn through every night, so bright
It just gets worse, yet there is no fight, that’s right
What remains when we have no bite? Hindsight
What if we knew, the true meaning of light? Too bright

Humanity is a fucking cancer, and it will always remain this way, regardless of how much we try to change, our poison remains the same, glorified apes roaming in circles of shit. Every action we try to take to remedy this is ultimately flawed and simply shifts the balance of the same power structure
